Oh misty eye of the mountain below.

I guess this counts as the long awaited, much needed supposed 'new' new year post? I mean i'm looking back at the last post about Chitrakatha, and i think to myself "Wow time sure does fly!" It's April and i'm sitting here wondering when i'll make the next post, so my brain sarcastically goes like something on the lines of "Well it's HIGH time". Continuing this later...

Birthday shout out to my dearly beloved, making baked goods and meat with you is always a pleasure. And if we're to start a business together, a restaurant would be it!

Aaand back to where i started...

It makes me terribly guilty, this whole not taking care of the blog bit, not updating. Saying something about a next post and disappearing for a good three four months! And yet it doesn't stop me from committing the mistake again and again, this is something which needs to be worked on.

First things first, i'm sitting here in Sikkim, heavily occupied with my own work, my studio work and freelance work. This mind ain't no place for no devil! Then there are times i feel like staring at electronics and walls wondering how to spend my day, i guess that'll always be a staple for me.

I've been here a good two months now and i love the place more and more each day, food tastes better, music sounds better, waking up early feels meaningful (even though i can't wake up early for the life of me). Coming to the point the place is a gem and i for one enjoy the mountains and all it has to offer. Of course it isn't well connected but hell i'd go out of my way to be here anytime!
I happened to travel for a few days before the whole sitting and working settled in, so i've some of that to share, loads of food photos to share and of course some work as well. This ones going to be long(at least when i'm typing it feels like it's going to be long) either way, enjoy!

I went to a kickass Bhutanese wedding and these garments they wear is totally rad!
It felt like i was in some anime, i just needed cherry blossom trees...

I happened to go to a place by the name 'Aritar' here, an isolated spot tourism wise but we did not regret visiting at all! Bad roads were made up my serene hills and rustic homes balancing delicately with the help of bamboo stilts on the mountain edges, chicken coops for every other house and an array of flowerpots for each home. Then again, plants and flowers in full bloom are a staple for balconies and homes here in Sikkim it seems!

The next day, we managed to pack ourselves off to Nathula pass and Tsomgo lake/Chongu Lake, and boy was that a ride to remember! The amount of snow there was 'heartwarming' (i'm suck a sucker for snow, we actually had a half hour snow fight as well and didn't feel even a tad bit cold). I inaugurated my arrival at Nathula pass by falling flat on my derriere i didn't feel it that time but it caught up with me soon enough. The whole area is haunting and beautiful, a very restricted area, run by the army, but the most breathtaking and memorable experience!

I don't have very many photos to share because i actually sat and enjoyed the ride for once instead of hastily reaching out for a device to somehow record or document my experiences, i see families recording experiences or going totally trigger happy with their cameras in order to share some experiences with others once they return. Especially here in Sikkim, when i'm walking down M.G. Marg, i see so many people just clicking away, very seriously at that (not like it's a bad thing or anything like so, but boy are they serious! they don't seem too happy ) i get to wondering, what about the time they should spend with those they've come along with? Family, friends, girl/boy friends? It's just a personal thing for me, and perhaps a little bit hipster as well but i sure do love just staring blankly at any travel companion than have a lens glaring back at me, or a video camera for that matter even useless small talk seems less unnerving. Just a personal thing, but when i do get the time, and i manage to slink away for a few moments to click a few random photographs i just go ahead but not too ahead !

Aritar Lake housed a small shrine with this beautifully carved rock!

One of the young monks we met at the monastery in Aritar.

That little cabin there is Chinese, that whole picture is of the Chinese
side of Nathula pass.

The elusive Yak, a tourist attraction at Chongu/Tsomgo Lake.
This was the first time i saw a live one after eating it down in
Gangtok.

Of course i slinked off for a prayer wheel click at Chongu/Tsomgo Lake!
It was a little too tempting.
But i sought solace in the fact that this was my first prayer wheel click in the
two months i spent in Sikkim.

And i believe i was talking about how wonderful everything tastes here, you know whats coming...

Ajinomoto is an issue, a severe one. These snacks make it seem so easy.
Japanese rice crackers from Bhutan.

Tibetian new year/Special event goodness which has me lovestruck.

M.G. Marg, The Coffee Shop- a personal favourite

Now this last segment dedicated to work...

A small chibi contribution for the MAC (Mumbai Anime Club) magazine.

Gintama characters which i was assigned, now i've to sit down and watch the series when i get the time.

Some heavily 'Loish' inspired personal exploration caused due to the song "electric feel" by MGMT

Shock me like an electric eel, hence those eels, taking things too literally...

And finally, i started animating my final animated short film for college, i wonder when it'll be done.
It's a slow paced thing for now, but better than doing nothing at all!

And last but not least! I'm working for a chai cafe called Chaayos in Delhi, so drop by there and have yourself some freshly brewed tea!  links for making lives simpler :)  https://www.facebook.com/Chaayos

Over and out until next time!
