Graduation!

I never thought I'd be making this post! I'm graduating next week and it's been a crazy 2014.
Around the time I was in Sikkim, I was mentally preparing myself for the worst case scenario wherein I don't graduate this year. It was scary because I had no idea when I'd finish my film or any animation work for that matter.

When I look back at that chunk of time, I'm so glad that I made a promo for my film as well as a redone animatic. It felt like everything fell into place because of some magical force but if I sit and closely recall, I was glued to my lightbox, laptop and chair for a good amount of time before I was sure I could go back to college and apply for a graduation jury date. The whole experience was surreal and now that it's done I can safely say it was fun as well!

My full film is about 3 minutes 50 seconds long of which I made a promo of the shots I found  exciting! If it weren't for my guide Sekhar Mukherjee, I doubt I'd have anything substantial to show at all. Head on over to Behance and have a look at the promo and a few illustrations as well!

Here's the link for the Behance project!

The incident

A few days back i decided to open my blog and perhaps make an update if possible but something was amiss. I should probably not blame technology, rather blame my own ignorance for  getting flustered by the event which had just presented itself to me. More on that as i update this post.

By some strange stroke of i don't know what, i happened to doodle and very carelessly animate something which really did not make too much sense yet i felt that i should publish it as a memento for when i look back and reminiscence about the days when i was drawing such strange things.

Behold, the winged mustache. It likes to alternatively co-ordinate with the blinking motion.

GIFs have caught my fancy and i really do want to elaborate on my experience through them, see you tomorrow dear blog.

Not exactly tomorrow but as i've very shamelessly written in a lot of other posts, better late than never!

The simple solution was my cellphone which was synced with my google account. A few weeks back, i'd mindlessly changed a few picasa settings to private which rendered all my blog images private as well. I don't think i've ever felt this silly about an incident, though going through forums was a good decision after uselessly panicking, maybe if i had applied myself sooner i could've omitted the hyperventilate mode altogether!

A lesson well learnt.

Blues

Have you ever been frustrated when you're not able to draw?

Today was one of those days for me, and i just felt like i had to post something. But nothing was finishing and neither was it making me feel good!
Perhaps i'll update on this tomorrow? And a little more on whats been up and about this side...

Regarding updating this post today. i think i'll continue with doodles for a few days.
Here's me prowling around spice gardens sometime in December while in Kerala.

Oh misty eye of the mountain below.

I guess this counts as the long awaited, much needed supposed 'new' new year post? I mean i'm looking back at the last post about Chitrakatha, and i think to myself "Wow time sure does fly!" It's April and i'm sitting here wondering when i'll make the next post, so my brain sarcastically goes like something on the lines of "Well it's HIGH time". Continuing this later...

Birthday shout out to my dearly beloved, making baked goods and meat with you is always a pleasure. And if we're to start a business together, a restaurant would be it!

Aaand back to where i started...

Chitrakatha 2013 and a Happy new year to you!

More like a catching up post right here. I think i'll call the next post an official 'new year' post. One thing i must talk about as of now is our student animation film festival 'Chitrakatha'.

I've been wanting to talk about how pleasant the weather and the overall atmosphere of the festival was! I had a good time and was left inspired at the end of the day. Now...

"There's always a lighthouse, a man, a city."

It's been around 2 months (i guess) since i finished  Bioshock Infinite. The game still hasn't left me and after a point i started looking for the game's music to help me get over with the withdrawal i had because of the wonderful audio sensory experience i had encountered.
Most of my characters have been ending up with Elizabeth-esque hair and roses have been floating around in my head just waiting to be used as embellishments for an illustration.

Bioshock has been one of those games which has stuck with me. It's been the first to be that way with me after the Elder Scrolls.

Drawing Elizabeth was something i've been wanting to do for a while now.

Sweater weather

My favourite season is winter. Mainly because i enjoy feeling like a ball of fuzz and the mere thought of hot tea gives me tremendous goosebumps. There is much to update and talk about for the month of October which really needs much more time than i am devoting for this little update post.

Title specific, I've been listening to the song 'Sweater Weather' by 'The Neighbourhood' for the longest time now. Just felt like randomly doodling a prom-ish sort of thing since winters are meant for cozy dancing with significant others. I guess i'll take the liberty to make up all sort of random prom fantasies because India doesn't really have that sort of stuff, i think the closest we got to prom was a 'school conti' better left unspoken, no fancy fruit punch or glittery princess like entrances. It's a rather drab affair.

and some more doodle work

and one more, until the next post

I'll be talking about our animation festival "Chitrakatha" next time.
So excuse me while i forage for some photographs to share with you :)
